Cucumbers and Squash Tips
Use for the Cucurbit family: cucumbers, zuccini, squash,
pumpkins, etc.
Curbubit
are warm season, heavy feeders and like soil with lots of
humus.
Germinate early starts in 2 parts Humisoil to 1 part sharp sand.
Add Humisoil and Soil Life Starter to the soil one week before seeding or transplanting.
Apply Bountea Compost Tea with M3 to the seedlings when their first
true leaves appear.
Transplant into raised hills of compost and water with Bountea Compost Tea with M3 as you plant.
Make sure the plants have lots of space around them as they will
grow larger with the Bountea System.
The vines of the cucurbit plant have a white nodule below the leaf
that will put out extra roots if covered with soil. Cover each nodule with soil,
and water well along the vine length.
For
larger fruit, trim off all extra flowers and buds.
During the season, spray the leaves of the growing plants with Bountea Compost Tea with M3 diluted 10 to 1, every three weeks. This will help protect the leaves from disease and allow faster fruit growth.
