Salad and Greens Tips
Use for all salads and greens: lettuce, mesclun mix, radicchio, arugula, beet greens, spinach, chard, etc.
Leafy greens tend to be cold-loving medium feeders planted in early spring. They need fertile, moist soil with adequate organic matter.
Greens taste best when they are grown fast with regular watering and good nutrition.
Germinate early starts in 2 parts Humisoil to 1 part sharp sand.
Add Humisoil and Soil Life Starter to the soil one week before seeding or transplanting.
Sow directly into the ground early in the season. Use floating row covers to protect from frost and insects.
Apply Bountea Compost Tea with M3 to the seedlings when their first true leaves appear.
Transplant into well tilled ground and apply Bountea Compost Tea with M3 as you plant.
Make sure the plants have lots of space around them as they will grow larger with the Bountea System. Thin as necessary.
Mulch around the plants with compost that has been activated with Bountea Compost Tea.
To help “green-up” the leaves of your plants, add 1 tablespoon of QLC to every gallon of Bountea Compost Tea before brewing.
During the season, spray the leaves of the growing plants with Bountea Compost Tea diluted 10 to 1, every two to three weeks. This will help protect the leaves from disease and pests.
